MoonIf you are looking for a good gift for someone this year, why not get them a telescope to view the night sky. Telescopes can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I have enjoyed the view through my telescope for several years. When I was first interested in viewing the moon I purchased an amateur telescope at my local Wal-Mart.

It was fairly inexpensive, yet it gave me the chance to learn more about how mysterious the view of the night sky can be. After looking through an amateur telescope for a couple of years I stepped up to a larger telescope. Now that I am more interested and have a better understanding of what is really going on, I have been able to view many of the planets in our solar system. A lot of us see them but may not realize it.

A few of the planets are in view but appear as very bright stars in the night sky. I have seen some very cool views of planets, the moon and several stars. I have also taken several pictures with my telescopes camera, which shows many details that you can’t always see with the naked eye.

If you think you might enjoy this hobby I recommend starting with a cheaper telescope where you can view the moons craters and some small star galaxies. If you plan on spending more than $300.00 or more I would make sure you do research on aperture size of the telescope. For easy terms the bigger the aperture the more light the better you can see.
