So those are the best times to help the grass grow. The reason grass grows best in fall and spring is because it is coming out of dormancy.

One of the easiest ways to improve your lawn is by aeration. A plug aerator can not only help your lawn breath, but also help it absorb the fertilizer you are putting down. It also helps break down heavy thatched areas of grass by putting fresh soil on top of the thatch layer to help it break down.

There are a couple of ways to aerate. Plug aeration is mostly the preferred method. Spike aerating is not the best way to loosen soil, it actually compacts it tighter. Plug aerating is a great chance for you to use your ATV to ensure the whole yard is aerated efficiently. Some aerators are smaller so you can use your lawn tractor, but heavier ones require a stronger pull. They also have walk behind aerators for smaller lawns.

You can aerate your lawn in the early spring and fall. If you’re going to aerate in the fall be sure and give the fertilizer three to four weeks to work before the winter months. This will ensure your lawn has the nutrients to grow strong before winter dormancy.

It is called “Cell Phones for Soldiers.”

It came as a plastic sealable bag to put old and used cell phones in so they can be activated to send over seas. I thought it was a great idea to help families keep in touch, even if it is just for a few minutes.

The program is free to anyone who wants to participate, and the only cost is that old phone that you really don’t need anyways. What a great idea!

The mission of the program is to help our troops call home! There are a few things they ask you to do when sending the phone;

•Be sure the power to the phone is off.
•If you still have the battery, keep it attached to the phone.
•Place the phone in the provided envelope, and put it in the mail.

If you would like to receive one of these envelopes, you can get on the website to find out more information about the program, and also see how your old cell phone will reconnect our troops to their families back at home. The web address is: www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com

What a great way to recycle those old phones you haven’t used in a while, and why not give the gift of reconnecting families to the soldiers.

For those of you who own a cat or kitten as a pet, it can be sometimes difficult to find the right treatment to prevent fleas from causing problems for your pet. For us we have a cat that likes to go outdoors, so it can be even more of a challenge to keep the fleas away.

When we first found our cat he was a stray that came around for the attention and a meal. We knew we would have to clean him and up and and treat him for fleas or anything else he may have so we could take him in. The treatment we have found is rather inexpensive yet it is very effective for our cat. It is available at your local Wal Mart so it is readily available to pretty much everyone.

It does require a monthly treatment, but if it keeps the fleas away from your cat, it can be well worth it. Since we have been using the treatment, we feel our cat is much happier. We have tried many other types of treatments in the past like sprays and powders, but never had any luck like we had with this one treatment.

So if you want to make your cat happier and flea free, we would recommend this treatment to you and your cat. We have used it ever since we have taken him in and have not found any signs of fleas since.

Your mechanic is quoting you 4 figure numbers to have it repaired. The question goes through your mind to junk the ride or maybe replace the whole engine. Neither is cheap so which is the best route?

Well why not fix it yourself in under 1 hour? If you have a basic understanding of an engine then you’re on the way to a quick secure fix for cheap.

The product is called Thermagasket. This product is well worth the time and money of trying to fix your problems. At worst case you try it and it doesn’t work. But I don’t think that will be the case. If Thermagasket doesn’t work then the mechanic has more in store when they tear it apart and your bill is sure to go up.

The crack in the block or in the head itself should be put on hold until you figure out what caused the crack or the overheating to blow the head gasket. Typically it is something small that causes an engine to overheat like low oil, no coolant and other simple problems that can sometimesbe over looked. It happens. Find out what caused your problem then let Theramgasket take over and fix the crack or the head gasket. Check out there website for extra information and remember you’re already into 4 digits repairs unless this 100 dollar product can take away a lot of the mechanics time and save you a lot of money or maybe your ride.

With it's great achievments, the space station has become a big part of the way we view outer space. For astronauts, it is getting the opportunity to take a rare glimpse at the Earth itself. The ISS has become a sight that alot of us would like to see, but just dont know when to look. Some of us may think viewing the space station is a rare sight, but infact it can be seen several times in a single month. Alot of viewing the space station requires accurate time and knowing your directions.

So the big question is; When do I look for the space station? Well NASA has the answer. They have come out with a program where you can enter in your zip code and it will tell you when the next sighting will be. It really is that easy. Not only do they tell you when you can see the space station, but they have a list of other satellites you can also track.

I find viewing the space station and the shuttle to be amazing. Just to think there are people in outer space that are flying right over us. It only last a few minutes at best, but it's well worth the view.

To check out when the space station will be visible in your area, check out the link below.

It has been said that 8 out of every 10 women have dry to damaged hair. There can be several ways to help prevent this, as well as mend your hair after you have colored it. Many of us don’t realize it can be a huge difference on what type of products you are using. Generic shampoo is not the best shampoo for your hair.

It can be more expensive for the professional brand, but without a doubt, if you do color your own hair, it can make all the difference in maintaining and possibly improving the condition of your hair. A good moisturizing conditioner is also a big plus. The shampoos with the conditioner all in one are not very good at treating moisture loss from coloring. Not all shampoos and conditioners are good for your hair. Many can cause stripping of the color you just put in it, especially if you have shades of red in your hair.

I would recommend using a professional hair product at all times. I know for many of us it’s an expense that is just not in the budget. Keep an eye out in salons for combo packs that come with shampoo and conditioner. You can usually get quite a discount for buying in doubles. Salons will sometimes clearance out products when they are introducing a new line or adding inventory.

For most people a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner is going to be the best treatment. If you can’t find moisturizing shampoos you like, at least use a good moisturizing conditioner. A cream rinse is always good to use especially with coloring. Hair can sometimes feel like straw and be very hard to comb through after shampooing. For those of you who have really stressed out your hair, a bi-weekly protein treatment would be beneficial. Nexxus has been a top selling product for many salons and hair stylists for many years. There products are some of the best for maintaining color treated hair. Here are a few of them to look into that I have found to be the best.

• Therappe Moisturizing Shampoo is one of the best shampoos for your hair. It has a wonderful coconut scent that is very subtle yet wonderful. It does a great job for any type of chemically processed hair. Even if you do not over process your hair but are sometimes a little dry, it can be very effective for the hair and scalp.

• Humectress Moisturizing Conditioner is the best moisturizing conditioner by far. It has many ingredients to help seal down the hair shaft and it also has a wonderful scent. You can use this conditioner on a daily basis without over moisturizing.

• Ensure is more of a cream rinse. It is very effective for color treated hair to seal down the outer layer of the hair to help eliminate color fading. It will also help with split ends, and has a great grapefruit and citrus scent. This is a wonderful cream rinse you can use with the Humectress or alone.

• Keraphix is a protein treatment that should only be used 2 maybe 3 times a week depending on how damaged your hair is. It helps to repair damaged spots in the hair that needs more than just moisture to fix. It too can be used with the Humectress and Ensure. Just mix them together and apply to the hair at the same time and leave them on for 3-5 minutes after you have shampooed.

If you take care of your hair it can make for a better coloring experience in the future. The better the condition of the hair before you color, the better the color will look and the better your hair will feel if you continue to use the products between touch-ups

I started out flying the well known beginner Dragonfly helicopter, and have recently upgraded to the Blade CX2. The CX2 is an incredibly stable helicopter in flight. The very first time out of the box the CX2 was in an effortless hover with very little use of the controls. This helicopter easily fly’s up to 50 feet in calm winds and it will still go higher if you need (and I know this from experience).

If you should need replacement parts for your CX2, most local hobby shops carry parts in stock. I have checked out the local hobby stores in town and have found a lot of after market upgrades available for the CX2. I do recommend purchasing extra wings incase you lose control. Wings are available in packages of three for upper and lower blades. That’s about the only thing you should break on low level flight crashes. Every crash I have had has been simple operator errors with minimal damage.

Check out the video below to see how simple the CX2 can be to control. This helicopter is flying in a relatively small area with ease. Now that's what I call a helicopter!

Having given many haircuts in the past several years, I have come to find a few hair clippers that have worked well at the salon as well as in the home. Amazon is a great place to go check out many types of professional clippers that will last longer than those from the department stores. You do have to wait on shipping but the prices, that I have seen, are unbeatable. If you are in a hurry for clippers, then I would suggest Sally Beauty Supply. Granted you might pay slightly more than what Amazon has to offer, but you can walk out with a pair of clippers that day in most casses. In the long run only having to purchase 1-2 sets of clippers can be a money saving advantage rather than having to purchasing several.

If this clipper is maintaned properly it can last a very long time. I have been using my set of Osters for over 5 years and they are still working great.

That is not a good feeling, but having it happen made me wonder if anyone was making lift kits for ATV's. What I found was some kits that take your ATV from a stock ATV and turns it into a machine of basically any size you want.

Check out this picture of a Yamaha Grizzley lifted 12" or better (top right). This ATV is crazy huge. I found this picture on monsteratvs.com and the name of there web site fits there content perfectly. If you are in need of a lift kit for your ATV, whether its 2" or 10" check out yaskyatv.com. They have a nice selection of solid lift kits for your ATV and there are also some other links on this page that might be able to help with your lifting needs.

I had ordered a 2" kit from yasky atv and it worked out great. It was also very basic to install. For a 2" lift it's only going to cost you a couple of hundred dollars. If you need to go bigger for mudd bogging purposes or to clear bigger trees, then it could cost you several thousands of dollars.

Well It can be a lot of both, even if it is just an RC helicopter pilot. I have always wanted to own one but just wasn't ready to invest the money. I always thought for a decent helicopter that would actually fly I would have to spend a couple of hundred dollars or more. Well come to find out I was wrong. My brother has found some that would fly just fine and didn't even cost fifty dollars. Perfect for a beginner. So for Christmas this year he sent me one. It's called the Dragonfly. It's alot funner than I even thought it would be. Now I am by far an expierenced RC pilot, but I can still fly this helicopter pretty well. If you are interested in flyIng a beginner helicopter this will be a great starter. I liked this helicopter a lot because you can wreck it were you might think it's broke for good, but suprisingly its not. Just pick it up and fly again, its great! This is a cool video I found on youtube.com that shows the Dragonfly in action!

For those of us who like to color our own hair, it can be a challenge knowing which type of color to choose. I have seen many situations in the salon where using an ash hair color can benefit the outcome. Knowing the underlying chemistry that goes along with hair color can be a very in depth lesson. So I will break it down in the easiest way I can for a better at home coloring.

So when you go to the drugstore to choose, as I like to call them, an “over-the-counter” hair color, sometimes we don’t always take into consideration that each hair color we choose had to start with an underlying primary color, which can either be red, blue, or yellow. So for when we get into the ash colors, we are getting into a mix of primary colors to create a “base” color. Even a small understanding of colors can be helpful when coloring your self. Since there are more than ash hair colors, it can be tough on which one to choose.

For those who are lightening hair from a medium brown or dark blonde you might not need as much ash, unless you have the type of hair that often has a gold tint to it after the coloring process. To many of us it may look “red”, especially if we have the darker brown shades to start with, and that is why we would be choosing ash color because we do not want our hair to look that way. Here are a few pointers for choosing and using ash hair color.

• Ash hair color always begins with green. So if you want to eliminate gold or red tones in your hair you will want to choose an ash hair color. The box or bottle will have an A behind the number meaning ash. Some manufacturers will say ash right on the box to make it easier to understand the lingo. The green base color (ash) is used to counter any red or gold tints you would like to get rid of in your hair before or after coloring. Since green calms down the red in your hair as it does on the color wheel.

• So you may be asking, how do I know which shade to choose? Well, you will want to determine the color you want to be, as with any color job you do. The darker your hair is determines how strong of a developer or processing solution you will use. So if you have dark brown hair and you want to be a blonde, make sure the color you choose can lift your hair that light. Sometimes it may cause a real issue if you cannot get the hair light enough, and I have seen it happen many times. It can take a very long time to lighten your hair if you do not use the proper developer, and in some cases it won’t work at all. Then you will have to go to a professional for a color correction, and it could not only jeopardize the condition of your hair, but you’re sure to foot a pricy bill at the end.

• If you are just trying to freshen up your color and you have already used and ash based color, you may want to continue using an ash based color. Switching around the tones may counter the color you have and the color you want to be in a way you do not want. If you want to darken your hair, be careful when using ash based colors. Most high lifted hair, which means you have lightened your hair from a darker to a lighter shade, will soak in almost every color you don’t want. I would recommend using a natural shaded color for covering up blonde hair to a darker level, for the simple fact that you may risk turning yourself green or who knows what other color.

• The best advice I can give is don’t mix colors that aren’t the same brand. Even though they both may be a 6A, each manufacturer mixes the shades and tones differently. So one company’s 6A may be another companies 4A. It just depends on the company. You can use one brand one time, and then another brand the next, but don’t mix them together for one application.

I would recommend using the same brand or manufacturer every time you color. It will be easier to determine what color you want to be, and you can learn how to use that color to your advantage. It’s easier to fine tune your color if you know how it works for your hair.

Quad racing is right around the corner and the engineers, tuners, and riders have been out testing there equipment. The testing results are in and we get to see all the new ideas for 2008. Can-Am released its highly anticipated DS450 with a frame like no other. Yamaha beefs up there 700R so it’s capable of 9000 RPM's stock and the YFZ 450 comes from the factory with a very impressive five titanium valve head. I’ve broke these machines down to size and I’ll tell you what I think is the best sport/racing ATV on the market for 2008!

#1 Can-Am DS450 EFI
Can-Am is relatively new to the ATV world, but don’t let that fool you. The engineers who developed the DS450 have gone above and beyond. With detachable fenders and headlights this ATV comes stock ready to race right off the showroom floor. It is the lightest ATV in its class weighing in at 345 pounds. The ALTEC frame is what helped loose that weight. Using aerospace technology to help design the frame. It has no welds at all. Can-Am claims it makes 9% more horsepower than any ATV in its class and here is why. The DS 450 has the largest intake valves (38mm), the largest throttle body (46mm) and the largest bore (96mm). That is just the beginning of what this amazing ATV has to offer. It didn’t just make number one by a little it blew the others away!

#2 Yamaha Raptor 700R
This Raptor is the best selling sport ATV for several reasons. This 700 YFI engine has the biggest engine with the most horsepower on this list. This huge engine doesn’t want shifted until 9000 RPM’s. I liked the fact that when Yamaha designed this ATV they kept it in a racing catagory. Most ATVs with that big of an engine or bigger start to change the design into a heavier dune type ATV. The raptor has new front piggyback shocks witch will help on the course for tuning purposes. Yamaha got brave and developed its own YFI fuel injection with a 16 bit control to also help tune. I think for the price and power this is probably going to be the best selling sport ATV of the year again!

#3 Yamaha YFZ 450
This is another example of Yamahas experience in the off-road world. This ATV is a multi-time GNCC championship winner and the 2007 ATV of the year in ATV illustrated magazine. The reasons aren’t hard to find. This 450 DOHC has the most state of the art head work on the market having 5 titanium valves. This ATV weighs in at 350 pounds witch makes for excellent power to weight racio. The one thing I thought Yamaha would have done is put an EFI system of some sort on this deserving 450; instead they decided to stick with a 39mm Keihin carburetor. If you can’t keep up with your competition on this ATV then you might want some riding lessens!

#4Honda TRX450R
This ATV has won many events but not so many book awards. In my opinion who cares about a book award if you can win the trophy? The Honda TRX is a little heavier than the other 450's in its class but it makes up for some of that weight by having 12.0:1 compression in the power plant. This motor is running a big 40mm flat slide carburetor. There is nothing that is spectacular about this ATV as far as big numbers or doing something different to the design of the machine. The bottom line is that this machine performs very well. It might not have the biggest motor or the biggest suspension but what it does have is tuned very well and it will back every bit of the up on the track.

#5 Suzuki Quad Racer R450
It is about time Suzuki stepped up and made an ATV that was a race ready machine. The single cylinder 450 is an engine that has been out for a while on the Z450 dirt bike. They basically took that engine and slapped on to a good heavy ATV frame. The R450 is one of the heaviest in its class weighing in at 368 pounds dry. That does not stop the machine from having speed. It has a very large cylinder bore at 95.5mm, Remember the Can-Am has the biggest at 96mm and Suzuki is not far from that. The thing that I liked about the quad racer is that it has fuel injection. That alone on the machine means it’s going to make good power. Suzuki’s are also know for there suspension and they didn’t let anyone down in that area with independent double a-arm up front that is fully adjustable and in the rear is the linkage-type, gas/oil damped fully adjustable suspension.
